The story behind the design – Animal Faces pattern
Hello Everybody. Today I would like to tell you a bit more about our YUK FUN animal faces T-shirt. As an illustrator Patrick has always been a big fan of the mighty felt tip pen…
Some examples include some huge felt tip drawings from his AWESOMO POWERA solo show at EEA Art Space in Amsterdam:
And a couple more psychedelic felt tip drawings of musicians from the same show:
Last summer Patrick was asked by Schuh to customise a pair of Bucketfeet shoes to win as a prize for their #artandsole competition. This is one of his preparatory sketchbook pages, experimenting with colours and animal shapes.
Work in progress, using textile pens directly on to the shoes. Patrick got sent two pairs to work on so there wasn’t much margin for error!
And the finished pair of shoes:
We decided that the design would look great on T-shirts and other clothing, so Patrick created a new version especially for our all-over T-shirts. Below is the original felt tip drawing that the pattern was created from after a little bit of editing on the computer.
We’ll be blogging the little stories behind our other designs in the future so keep your eyes peeled…
