Looking for gifts for the illustrator/illustration lover in your life? Here’s some ideas in our Illustrators’ Christmas 2018 Gift Guide! This is just a small peek into some amazing work out there from people we love and admire. Our top ten independent artists to shop from in no particular order:
Beautiful Days is run by husband and wife team Chris Uphues and Jen Koehl. You might recognise Chris’ work from Big Bud Press, which is how we came across his work. We really love his fun, slightly retro, colourful illustration style. This 2019 Zodiac Calendar is a total dream!
Sarlis is Sarah Lasater, an artist based in LA, California. She makes clothing, ceramics and artwork and screen prints all her apparel by hand. Love this soft colour combination.
Natali Koromoto is an illustrator from Venezuela, now living in NYC. We heart her work so much! Which is your dream job? It’s a toss up between beekeeper and dessert designer for us!
Bloemkolie is Marjolijn Pas, an illustrator and designer based in the Netherlands. She makes these vegan soy wax candles in small batches in her studio. We ordered some and can’t wait to smell them! She also screen prints these awesome bee socks.
Elliot Kruszynski is an illustrator and printer based in East London. He makes things for you to buy that will make your life that little bit better. Can’t ever have too many tote bags, especially a doggy one!
NAMA is an Indie textile products design studio, founded by the designer Naama Ben Moshe and based in Tel Aviv. They also make fun wall hangings, cushions and stuffed toys!
GMMRS is Gemma Rose, a designer based in Norwich. We’ve been crushing hard on GMMRS for a little while now, she makes super fun, colourful knitwear and accessories. If anyone would like to buy us ALL of her things for Christmas that would be excellent thanks.
Miriam Brugmann is an Argentinian illustrator based in Rio de Janeiro who makes beautiful ceramics we’ve been lusting after for ages. We’re REALLY excited that she’ll be at DIY Art Market and the Independent Ceramics Market next week in London.
Pey Chi is Peggy Chin, an artist based in Melbourne, Australia who is making some excellent things right now. We follow her on instagram and love her joyful, colourful work which ranges from ceramics, clothing, textiles and more! We’re eagerly waiting for her to upload her ceramic range 😀
That’s it for our Illustrators’ Christmas 2018 Gift Guide, but we’ve also made a Pinterest board for everything that didn’t make it onto this blog post here. Other great places to shop from in person are Hi-Fest in Hastings (happening THIS weekend! Sat 1st & Sun 2nd Dec) and DIY Art Market in London (Sat 8th Dec). You’ll find us at these two events selling and also buying from some amazing illustrators and artists. Support artists and shop independent this Christmas!
